Visual Assist build 2086 arrives less than a month after build 2083, in time for the holidays. If all goes well, this will be our last build of 2015.<\/p>\n

The most noteworthy change in build 2086\u00c2\u00a0is a\u00c2\u00a0reorganized options dialog. The mechanics of the dialog haven’t changed and the individual settings remain; we simply arranged\u00c2\u00a0the settings into\u00c2\u00a0more logical\u00c2\u00a0groups.<\/p>\n

We launched the\u00c2\u00a0original options dialog more than a decade ago. Since then, we have added settings to existing panes when room was available, and added new panes when squeezed for space\u00c2\u00a0or when introducing entirely new groups of settings. We appreciate\u00c2\u00a0that unnecessary change is frustrating\u00c2\u00a0so we refrained from a reorganization\u00c2\u00a0until its value\u00c2\u00a0outweighed the value\u00c2\u00a0of retaining\u00c2\u00a0the disorder.<\/p>\n

For new users, the reorganized options dialog makes perfect sense. For existing users, we believe any initial angst\u00c2\u00a0will lead quickly to sighs of relief.<\/p>\n

Other improvements in build 2086 include the ability to\u00c2\u00a0assign Shift+Right-Click in the text editor, and\u00c2\u00a0a smaller memory footprint during initial\u00c2\u00a0parsing of solutions.<\/p>\n
